Sacha's Backdrop What is this?
Why?
I like to walk a lot. I would rather walk to the shops than ride my bike, even though it takes longer. I'd rather walk between stops in London than take the tube. If it's sunny, I love to feel the sun on my skin and look at all the colors that sunshine seems to heighten... a perfect excuse to enjoy what life offers.
If it's raining, it feels like an opportune time to dwell on the deeper things in life. And smell the earth.

Why do you like it?
For some reason I like the fact that it makes me highly emotional. It makes me feel like crying, which is a great release. I'm not saying I cry about everything, but I come close. If I see a stranger doing something nice for another stranger; I get teary. If I see a little stray kitten struggling to stay upright; I get teary. If I see a beautiful rose on the footpath in front of me; I get teary. You get the picture.
As for this song.. well, it's the build up from melancholy to powerful, and the delicate little ending that gets me. And it's the hope the words evoke.

Why:
I used to play Scrabble all the time with my parents, which could be very interesting as my mum (who is Dutch) has a knack for inventing words that sound suspiciously normal.
Pictionary is another one I love because I'm a pretty visual person, I love seeing how other people interpret words.
Balderdash is a great laugh if you're surrounded by bullshtters. It's also the only time I feel comfortable lying my arse off.

How was it?
Interesting and insightful... it's an autobiography of sorts. Nazeer was diagnosed with autism as a child. In this book he explores the experience of autism by re-acquainting himself with five others also diagnosed with autism who had been enrolled with him in a small school in New York when they were children.
Through his account of meeting each person again as an adult, and telling their very different stories, he explains the various idiosychrosies of autism and disects it from both the insider's and outsider's perspective. This book helped me understand what it's like to live with autism... in a moving, funny and honest way.

OMG She-ra! I'm so happy you are aware and know the joys of She-ra, Princess of Power!! What a great cartoon, despite the mouths not moving. My sister used to have the sword, the belt, and some other accessories and we played with the castle all the time. Oh, how wonderful.
